Wyatt Sheffield Digital Photograph I found this dessicated Texas Dog Day Cicada (*Hadoa texana*) on the live oak tree in front of my house. It was mounted on a pin and photographed in a custom-built light box. The black background was realized by having my friend Lina hold a black posterboard as far away from the light source as possible while still filling the camera frame.
